WHAT'S INSIDE

Grow Your Own Second Brain

Five principles, each with a starter prompt you can paste as-is. The prompts deliberately ask Claude to interview you before building — answering its questions is where your workspace's shape gets in.

INSIDE THE GUIDE

Five principles, each with a starter prompt:

THE ONE THING TO HOLD ONTO

Every workspace is different. The way my files, folders and memory are organised isn't the way yours are — so my exact system would fit you badly. What carries over are the principles. Hand these to Claude, let it study your workspace, and let it build your version.

  1. 01Research before you buildPull what's actually working right now, read your workspace, and only then plan.
  2. 02Stand on proven shouldersFour open-source memory projects worth studying: borrow the right ideas, copy none of them wholesale.
  3. 03Deterministic code before the modelKeywords, scoring, one file, one section — all plain code. The model is called exactly once, at the end.
  4. 04Keep a small index of everythingOne catalogue file, one line per memory, so lookups stay cheap forever.
  5. 05Make it prove itselfA fair test against a default session, plus /goal prompts that make Claude check its own speed.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Claude Code with Fable 5 — it runs on its own separate usage limits, so make that budget count on the heavy lifting
  • A workspace with some history in it: notes, projects, memory files
  • An hour or two of letting Claude work, checking in between steps

THIS IS FOR YOU IF...

  • You work in Claude Code and have a workspace with real history in it
  • You want a memory system built around your files, not a copy of someone else's
  • You want memory lookups that are faster and cheaper than a default session
  • You can spend an hour or two letting Claude build while you answer its questions

NOT FOR YOU IF...

  • You want a ready-made system to copy as-is
  • Your workspace is still empty — the brain needs something to organise
  • You don't use Claude Code
